| Entering
the stately Le Chandelier Restaurant is akin to being invited
into the home of one of the countrys best gourmet chefs.
An enticing aroma of opulence wafts from the kitchen, and beyond
the entryway is a table with all shapes and sizes of fresh breads
and aged cheeses. If you didnt arrive with an appetite,
you are sure to have acquired one by the time the Maitre, Luis
Offer, seats you at your table. The elegantly appointed rooms
are dark and earthy, with portals in the walls filled with statues,
wood carvings, ceramics, antique musical instruments and other
unique treasures. |

| Situated
on a hillside overlooking Escazú, Restaurant Le Monastère
represents a combination of quiet reflection and full-blown
festivity expertly mixed to please all facets of the dining
and nightlife spectrum. French and international cuisine is
served by hosts attired in 19th century French monk frocks,
and customers are often invited to enjoy Gregorian and classical
music performed live in the renovated chapel. Originally the
home and chapel of an elite family in the early 1900s,
the buildings were later converted into a monastery for religious
novitiates, and today, the site hosts one of San Joses
better known restaurants. |

| Chef Stefano
Delgrano, of La Luz Restaurant in Escazú, likes to think
of his menu as the embodiment of New World Cuisine.
His culinary tendencies are 100 percent international, each
plate exhibiting a fusion between Asian, European, African and
American influences. The ambiance of La Luz is as impressive
as the cuisine. Situated in the new Hotel Alta, Costa Rican
architect Ralph Ruge has created a masterful replica of Spanish
Colonial architecture - complete with vintage tapestries adorning
the walls and domed ceiling, authentic paintings depicting turn-of-the-20th-century
Europe, antique furniture and sculptures. |

Dining
at Restaurante Solera is an unforgettable journey of good taste
down the eclectic road of fusion cuisine.
Although
its name is Spanish (and has many meanings, for example, the
barrel used to make sherry), the food served at Solera cannot
be placed into any one category. Co-owners Ray Forté
and chef Michel Bellefeuille have combined their talents and
added the highlights of several culinary styles to their well
thought-out menu.

| Thomys
Paprika is unlike any other restaurant in Costa Rica. Guests
at this small and intimate restaurant will enjoy an extraordinary
and memorable night of fine dining and service. No menu awaits
guests at the small restaurant. The menu is whatever Owner and
Chef Thomas Mueller feels inspired to cook that day. Sometimes
there are theme nights, such as Malaysian or Spanish cuisine.
Guests can choose from among the choice of daily dishes, or
order anything they feel like eating. I love to cook,
Mueller said. The idea with this type of restaurant is
that people need to feel at home. |
