Tour Costa Rica we understand how important it is to interact with nature to experience a deeper and truer appreciation for life. Founded in 1986, we specialize in white-water rafting, mountain biking and hiking tours, and own and operate the Pacuare Lodge, located in the jungle near the Pacuare River. We are fully licensed by the Costa Rican Tourist Board. Whether it's a one-day tour or a two-week expedition, we can arrange all facets of your Costa Rica vacation: hotel reservations, transportation, tours and outdoor activities. The adventures we offer provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the rich tropical biodiversity of Costa Rica while enriching their own lives. On these outings, adventurers will rediscover a respect for our natural surroundings. |

responsible tourism should benefit and respect local communities.
Our Community Support Program
works directly with the people and institutions in communities
near the Pacuare River put-in and our lodge. Infrastructure
in these isolated areas is scarce and poorly maintained by the
government. A percentage of each reservation made by Internet
is donated directly to the three primary schools located along
the Pacuare River between Tres Equis and Siquirres. We also
accept donations for the schools, which are transferred in their
entirety (no administrative or other fees are deducted) to the
school boards, who use the funds for much-needed materials and
student services. For larger donations by people going on one
of our overnight Pacuare trips, we will arrange a personal visit
on horseback to the Bajo del Tigre School to meet the teacher
and schoolchildren. With us, your Costa Rica vacation actually
helps give back to the community. |
| The Pacuare Lodge
was built with a minimum impact on the river and rainforest
site where it is located, and is accessible only by boat or
helicopter. Lanterns and candles provide light, as there is
no electricity at the lodge. No trees were cut to build the
bungalows and main lodge. Lumber was purchased from a sustainable
reforestation project operated by small farmers. The roofs are
made from palm leaves installed by Cabecar Indians living in
the area, using their traditional style. Near the lodge we have
purchased nearly 30 hectares of primary rain forest that was
in danger of being cleared. Because our goal is to preserve
this untouched virgin forest, no visitors are allowed in this
area. |

of the driving forces of our staff. Our bilingual guides embody
this spirit of adventure and demonstrate their concern for our
precious environment on every trip to the wilds of Costa Rica's
tropical rain forests, pristine beaches and beautiful rivers.
They are some of the best in the field, highly experienced,
professional guides who are certified in first aid, CPR and
swift-water rescue training. Many of our guides have additional
certifications such as wilderness first aid and wilderness first
responder. Our professional office staff can develop custom
programs and itineraries to meet the needs of the most demanding
clients, whether couples or larger groups, offering each person
a custom-made Costa Rica vacation. |

only one way to enjoy your Costa Rica vacation: safely. Safety
is our primary concern, and we spare no effort to provide the
highest quality, most enjoyable experience possible. Our excellent
track record reflects this profound concern for the safety of
our guests. We are affiliated with Swissraft,
the largest adventure tour operator in Europe, and back our
tours with years of experience working with a variety of clients.
Our bilingual guides instruct guests on all safety measures
before each trip, and a fully stocked first aid kit is available
at all times. Tour Costa Rica reserves the right to cancel
any trip or change rafting trips to an alternative river or
section because of weather, unsafe water conditions or any other
circumstances that could endanger the safety of our guests and
guides. In case of a total cancellation, Tour Costa Rica will
give a full refund. |

Our Costa
Rica offices are located on 5th Avenue, between 33 and 35
streets, in the capital city of San José. We are open
