This tour to Arenal Volcano and Tabacón Hot Springs begins in the late morning when guests are picked up from their San José hotel in a comfortable minibus and driven through the Central Valley, then northwest through rolling coffee plantations and farmlands to Arenal Volcano.
Visitors can spend a leisurely afternoon at Tabacón Hot Springs, splashing around in more than a dozen pools and sampling volcanic-strength cocktails at the swim-up bar. Expansive landscaped gardens stretch out in every direction and merge into the surrounding tropical rain forest. The glowing peak of Arenal Volcano looms above.
For additional pampering, the spa at Tabacón offers facials, volcanic mud treatments and therapeutic massage. The thermal waters cascade over intriguing rock formations that create inviting waterfalls and pools of warm, soothing water that soak away every aching muscle.
